Partizan – 20 godina kasnije

Večeras je u JDPu u Beogradu obeležena dvadesetogodišnjica od osvajanja titule prvaka Evrope i nema mnogo reči kojima se može opisati kako se neko kao ja oseća dok sluša ovakav uvod u veče:

Naježiš se od glave do pete, zasuze oči, i onda te nekoliko izuzetno emotivnih govora vrati tih 20 godina unazad, u mom slučaju u možda najlepši deo detinjstva.

Danilović kome drhti glas dok čita govor. Željko koji, iako godinama izvežban da drži govore i prezentacije, uopšte i ne krije emocije i koliko mu je sve to važno i nesebično zasluge za urađeno deli sa Kićom koji je stvorio taj tim. Uručivanje plakete zahvalnosti tadašnjem gradonačelniku Fuenlabrade, čiji su stanovnici tada bili najveći Grobari na svetu…

Uh…

Skroz mi je krivo što nisam imao priliku da i uživo budem tamo, da bar sednem među onolike legende i uživam tih sat-dva…

Gold medals and the National Anthem of Serbia

Since Yugoslavia stopped existing, a lot of things have been changing in Serbia, including the coat of arms, flag and anthem.
Many things changed, but some remained the same – corruption in all spheres of life and levels is one, and the second is success in many many sports.
The corruption is what kills us, makes us feel helpless and quite often deeply depressed and highly apathetic (see some stats at @Dzangrizalo’s blog post – serbian & google translated english), and when any government brings us a new anthem or anything that should gather us all around, we simply cannot accept it so easily… Even if that anthem is a beautiful song from 1872, it is still not easy to relate to it… Not even if they play it every morning and evening on national TV station… (I suppose that is an explanation to the hatery towards celebrations in the same blog post )
Myself included…

However, recent shower of medals on World Swimming Championship, Waterpolo Championship, as well as U18 European Basketball Championship (all in a couple of days) has brought us a lot of happiness, and along we listened the anthem in a whole new light… All of a sudden, I didn’t care about the government, about the corruption, about anything really – just enjoyed the goosebumps I missed so much last couple of years…

It’s stupid, I know, and I feel like a kid when this happens, but these successes give you kind of a boost and motivation to do more… They wake you up from apathy and show you that if you are talented and really want to do something more with your life, there is no system or surrounding that will stop you do more…
So, thank you Serbian swimmers, waterpolo and basketball players – you have been such motivation boosters this week!

Report: EC to propose visa liberalization

BRUSSELS — The European Commission (EC) adopted unanimously on Tuesday recommendations for visa liberalization for Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia.

EU diplomatic sources told Tanjug news agency that the recommendations relate to period starting January 1, 2010.

@Miss_Cybernaut and couple more twitternauts have discussed last night and I think we all agree that .wtf would be a perfect top level domain for Serbia, instead of .rs.
.wtf, of course, comes from “What The F..K!?” as it is a phrase we use after almost every news item that we hear or read.

This one amazed me and I used WTF several times – Tomislav Nikolic, leader of the new conservative political party in Serbia (which was established recently after Nikolic and Vucic left Serbian Radical Party), and the guy most of us are afraid to win some future elections, apparently visited EU officials and promised to start an EU Integrations Council. This would be great news if we could forget that he was leading the political party that was openly agitating for “Great Serbia” (the one that includes half of Croatia and most of Bosnia) and the same party that was openly supporting paramilitary troops in wars in Croatia and Bosnia which were doing things most of Serbs will feel ashamed forever.
